IPOS Cycle
This term is used to describe the main operations of a computer: Input, Processing, Output, and Storage.
Input
user puts information into a computer
(i.e. scanning the barcode)
Processing
the computer analyzes the information
(i.e. determines that the barcode is for a box of Froot Loops and that the price is $3.99)
Output
the information is displayed on a monitor or printer
(i.e. the price is shown on the screen and printed on a receipt)
Storage
the computer stores information about the task
(i.e. saves the purchase history to the store inventory system)
